Hello internet!

Well I'm starting a blog! Never thought that would happen. I'm starting this blog to document goings on in my little family, it has been 7 months since little Ellie Louise Farquharson was born and time has whipped past like crazy and I'm a little upset I haven't really got documentation on those early months, I mean, I've got photo evidence but I really wish I could have documented a few things that have happened in a little more detail, which is what I am intending on doing in this blog starting from now.

Ellie has pretty much been a dream baby, she is very placid and very happy all the time, meeting milestones well, although she hasn't really learned to roll back to tummy yet, but we're working on it. She has two little teethy pegs which popped up at around 7 and 1/2 months. Ellie has always been a very petite baby, her weight even dropping into the 4th and 3rd percentiles in her last few weigh ins. The 3rd percentile scared me a little bit and I requested an appointment with the paediatrician to talk about it. Luckily I'm the month leading up to the appointment she had a massive weight gain and the doctors and myself are happy with it for now.

However the doctors had other news for me, that I hadn't even heard of before, apparently being a firstborn female and spending some time in the breech position in the womb (turned by ECV at about 38 weeks gestation) makes babies high risk for hip problems. The paediatrician checked Ellie's hips and said she felt reduced abduction in the right hip and referred us for an x ray.

So the next day we had the x ray and a doctor from the hospital called 3 hours later and delivered the news, that Ellie has hip dysplasia and her right hip is dislocated. And so our hip journey began. I was at my parents house when the doctor rang and I felt panicked, and I just wanted to cry, but that's not really going to help the situation. So as it stands right now we have another paediatrician appointment tomorrow in the children's ward at the hospital and an appointment with the bone specialist to follow in the next couple of weeks. So hopefully I should know more about the situation tomorrow.

Take care of one another
xx
